A Park Party in Brooklyn
Casey & Mischa's Wedding at the Prospect Park Boathouse
Some love stories feel like fate, woven into the fabric of everyday life. Casey and Mischa’s wedding at the Boathouse at Prospect Park was exactly that—a celebration deeply connected to place, memory, and the simple joy of being together. Mischa grew up in New York City, and one night, while walking through Prospect Park, he spotted the Boathouse aglow with the magic of a wedding. He tucked the moment away, imagining himself saying “I do” in that very place. Years later, after he and Casey moved to Brooklyn, they walked through the park one evening and saw the Boathouse, once again alight for a wedding. This time, Casey shared his vision. It was meant to be.
Laidback Formality with a Touch of Mystique
From the very beginning, Casey and Mischa envisioned a wedding that felt like a “park party” infused with warmth, meaning, and effortless elegance. They wanted their guests to feel the love—a triumphant celebration of their journey together. Working alongside Alison and Jonathan of Two Kindred Event Planners, we designed a suite of wedding stationery that reflected their vision: laidback yet formal, timeless yet fresh, with a slight air of mystique.
The Stationery: A Love Story in Every Detail
I was so honored to collaborate with Casey and Mischa from their save-the-dates to their day-of details. Inspired by their love story and the venue itself, we wove in soft, evocative elements that carried through each piece.
Save-the-Dates: These featured a watercolor illustration of the Boathouse surrounded by florals from their color palette, paired with modern, clean text. The envelope flap read “I love you the most.” A simple, heartfelt beginning to their wedding story.
Invitations: Letterpress printed with embossed floral details, the invitations were topped with a die-cut card that featured florals and an ethereal image of the Boathouse at night beneath a September sunset sky. We played up the color palette by printing additional cards on different color papers, and each suite was wrapped in an orange silk ribbon. The detail cards included a custom map of Prospect Park, ensuring guests could fully appreciate the meaningful setting of their wedding. The envelope liner was inspired by the Boathouse’s ceiling tiles and adapted to the color palette, mirroring the way they always respond to each other—when one says 'I love you the most,' the other replies, “I love you the infinitiest most.”
Wedding Day Details: Programs, table numbers, menus, bar signage, and custom cocktail napkins added a personal touch. The napkins featured snippets of text messages Casey and Mischa exchanged while dating, bringing an intimate, playful element to the celebration. A welcome sign greeted guests with the next step in their sweet exchange, “I love you the foreverest.”
The quotes included throughout the stationery were little phrases Casey and Mischa often said to each other—escalating from one to the next—woven through their wedding details from beginning to end, mirroring the growth of their love story.
A September Sunset Palette
The wedding’s color palette was inspired by the magic of a late September sunset—shades of soft purples, blues, pinks, and golden-orange tones. These colors wove through the invitations, menus, and signage, creating a visual harmony that perfectly suited the Boathouse’s beauty.
Bringing the Vision to Life
From custom cocktail napkins featuring their first conversation about marriage to the charming escort cards and menus, every detail reflected Casey and Mischa’s playful yet sophisticated style. Their signature drink, The Pinky Promise, was a pomegranate margarita with a smoky salt rim, a fun nod to their commitment.
The Boathouse itself became an extension of their story, its glowing lights reflecting on the water just as it had in those nights of quiet walks and shared dreams. Guests were enveloped in the warmth of their love, surrounded by the beauty of Prospect Park, and treated to an evening of laughter, joy, and unforgettable moments.
A Love Worth Celebrating
Casey and Mischa’s wedding was more than just an event—it was a feeling. A shared experience of love, place, and time, brought to life through intentional design and thoughtful details. We were honored to be a part of their journey and to help create something that felt uniquely them.
Wishing them a lifetime of love, laughter, and many more walks through Prospect Park.
