Black Tie and FUN! A Summer Wedding at the Bordone

Just married! The bride and groom walking back down the aisle following their ceremony at the Bordone LiC with the New York skyline as their backdrop.

The minute I was introduced to Carey, by Alison and Jonathan of Two Kindred Event Planners, it was evident that our collaboration would be nothing short of incredible. Carey’s infectious energy and vibrant vision, combined with her impeccable taste, made for an amazing journey through the design process. As we delved into discussions about her wedding, it became clear that this was more than just a project—it was a shared passion for creating something unique and personal. With a color palette with hues of black, white, hot pink, yellow, and orange, Carey's vision was as bold and adventurous as her spirit, setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration. Read on to learn more about Carey and Alec’s spectacular New York City summer wedding.

The goal was to combine elegance with a touch of whimsy; epitomizing the essence of a black-tie affair infused with vibrant hues and lively details. From the moment guests received their invitations, it was clear that this wedding would be nothing short of extraordinary. The sleek combination of digital and blind deboss print on double-thick stock set the tone for the evening, with a z-fold response card providing a glimpse into the couple's love story and a playful map of New York City, showcasing their favorite spots tagged for all to explore. The color palette of black and white was brought to life with bursts of hot pink, yellow, and orange, along with accents of marine blue. Bright watercolor florals adorned the envelope liner, complementing the New York City skyline motif and the couple's personalized duogram.

As guests arrived at the Bordone, they were greeted by a picture-perfect setting overlooking the East River. The weather was on their side, allowing for a breathtaking outdoor ceremony framed by the iconic New York City skyline.

Every detail of the wedding seamlessly tied into the theme, ensuring a memorable experience for all in attendance. Accordion paper fans served as wedding programs, offering relief from the summer heat. Fabric banner seating charts guided guests to their designated tables, while signature drink signs beckoned them to indulge in delightful concoctions. The drinks were adorned with striped straws sporting monogrammed flags, adding a touch of personalized flair to each sip. Arch-shaped menus with tassels in shades of pink showcased the evening's culinary delights, while attached place cards ensured everyone found their seat with ease. And of course, the table numbers, which stood out yet seamlessly blended into the overall design scheme, a testament to the couple's attention to detail.

The culinary experience was nothing short of extraordinary, with Pinch Food Design presenting unique and fun ways to serve their creations. Churros hanging from an umbrella, tempting guests with their warm, cinnamon-sugar goodness. Treats made their entrance on a large wooden snake, adding an element of surprise and delight to the evening. Specialty pour-over cocktails were crafted with precision, tantalizing the taste buds with each sip.

Wedding treats served atop a woodend "snake" tray being passed at an outdoor wedding at the Bordone LIC.

But beyond the vibrant decor and delectable treats, it was the energy of the couple that truly made this wedding unforgettable. Full of life, love and inspiration, they infused every moment with joy; creating memories that will last a lifetime.

As the festivities continued into the night, against the backdrop of the glittering city lights, it was clear that this was more than just a wedding—it was a celebration of love, friendship, and the vibrant spirit of New York City in the summertime.
